Fraser Marine and Industrial provides diversified ship repair services to vessels operating on the Great Lakes and St Lawrence Seaway system. Our ship repair department is supported by steel fabrication, machine and electrical shops that provide quality services to industry.

In September 2002, Fraser Marine and Industrial achieved ISO 9001-2000 certification, further highlighting our commitment quality customer service.

Welding certifications are maintained to the Canadian Welding Bureau Standards W47.1 in Division 2 for steel and W47.2M in Division 3 for aluminium. Welding personnel are also certified under the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).

The Fraser work-experience of versatile operations includes complex, custom and precision grinding, cutting, welding, forming and blasting of all metals including stainless steel and aluminum.

Marine

Fraser Marine and Industrial provides the Canadian marine industry with all types of ship repair maintenance and construction. Fraser operates a busy winter works program each year with work crews on-site throughout the ports of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway System, often employing more than 300 skilled trades-people.

Machine Shop

Fraser Marine and Industrial Machine Shop facilities include computer aided equipment capable of working to precise tolerances including horizontal and vertical milling machines, various lathe and boring machines, band saws, sand blasters and annealing furnaces.

Fraser Marine and Industrial’s team of qualified technicians provide both shop and on-site services, including re-metalling of Babbitt bearings, reconditioning piston crowns and valve cages, overhaul of hydraulic cylinders, shafts and fluid drives.

Babbitt Shop

The Babbitt Shop is equipped to re-metallize bearing surfaces either using the static pour or centrifugal-spin-cast methods. Our complete bearing service includes the manufacture of new bearings and the re-conditioning of used bearings to OEM specifications.

Bearing types include generator, line-shaft, saddle carrier, tilt pad, turbine, motor, and journal thrust. Frasers spin cast to a maximum of 50” O.D. and a length of 60”. Static pour operations are capable of handeling bearings from 1” to 60” bore.

Electrical

Fraser Marine and Industrial has a team of qualified and experienced technicians who are diversified in all aspects of the electrical trade. The pool of knowledge stretches from over 30 years of Marine experience to industrial maintenance and installations.

Frasers provides the installation and maintenance of all power systems and controls including motors, generators, propulsion engine controls, conveyor and unloading systems, measurement control systems, monitoring alarm systems, megger test and repairs and computer cable installation.

Technical Services

The knowledgeable and experienced staff in the Technical Services Department provide full support for the many diversified aspects of production, including surveys, feasibility studies, preparation of specifications & contract plans, design & drafting, estimating & quotations, material procurement, project management & analysis.
