Fraser Marine and Industrial is the largest ‘top-side’ ship repair company on the Great Lakes. Based in Port Colborne, FMI specializes in major vessel refits, planned maintenance, and emergency ship repair services throughout the Great Lakes and St-Lawrence Seaway System.

HISTORY

Fraser Marine and Industrial has decades of ship repair experience beginning with the founding of ‘Herb Fraser and Associates’ in 1965.

The company was purchased by Algoma Central Corporation in 1973, and the name was changed to ‘Fraser Ship Repair’. In the late 90’s, the name was again changed to its current name in order to better reflect the nature of the services provided. Fraser Marine and Industrial is now a division of  Algoma Central Corporation.

Location Fraser Marine and Industrial is strategically located in Port Colborne, Ontario, at the south (Lake Eire) entrance to the Welland Canal, adjacent to Lock 8. This location provides convenient access to vessels transiting the Welland Canal, the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway system.
